What should I measure?

Measure outside diameter across the wound roll and core outside diameter where stock begins—not the hollow bore. Total thickness includes facestock, adhesive, and liner. Measuring a stack of layers and dividing by the layer count is more reliable than guessing one layer.

Why is my real length different?

The estimate assumes uniform thickness, concentric winding, and no air gaps. Compression, tension, adhesive, liner, telescoping, damage, and measurement error can change real results.

Does “within maximum OD” mean it fits my printer?

No. It checks outside diameter only. Confirm media width, core/adapters, winding orientation, sensor requirements, feed path, and every manufacturer requirement separately.
